Data Deletion Policy

1. Your Right to Deletion

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. This policy explains how to request deletion and what data is retained after your request is processed.

3. What Gets Deleted

Upon processing your deletion request, we will delete:

• Your profile (name, age, gender, height, location, bio)
• Your profile photos (from cloud storage)
• Religious and personal preferences
• Family and partner preference data
• All messages and proposals sent through the platform
• Match history and compatibility scores
• Account credentials and authentication data
• Verification data (ID uploads — already deleted after verification)

Deletion is processed within 7 business days of receiving your request. The actual data removal from backups may take up to 30 days.

4. Data We Retain

Certain data may be retained after account deletion as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

• Payment records: Retained for 7 years under Indian tax law (Income Tax Act, 1961)
• Transaction logs: Retained for 7 years for audit and legal compliance
• Anonymized analytics: Aggregated, non-identifiable usage data may be retained indefinitely
• Grievance/complaint records: Retained for 3 years as required under the IT Intermediary Guidelines, 2021
• Compliance reports: Retained for 3 years for regulatory compliance

All retained data is anonymized where possible and cannot be linked back to your account.

5. Data Portability

Before deleting your account, you may request a copy of your personal data in a machine-readable format (JSON). To request a data export, email privacy@findmynikah.com with the subject "Data Export Request." We will provide the export within 7 business days.
