2. Data Fiduciary

FindMyNikah acts as a Data Fiduciary under the DPDP Act, 2023. We determine the purpose and means of processing your personal data. We are committed to processing your data lawfully, fairly, and in a transparent manner.

3. Information We Collect

Profile data: Name, age, gender, location, education, occupation, photos, bio, religious preferences, family details, and partner preferences. You control what is visible to others.

Verification data: Government-issued ID (optional) and LinkedIn profile URL (optional). IDs are verified and then deleted — we do not store them.

Usage data: Pages visited, features used, messages sent, and interaction patterns. This is anonymized and used only to improve matching quality.

Device and log data: IP address, browser type, device information, and access timestamps. This data is collected for security and fraud prevention.

4. Purpose of Processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate the matrimonial platform
  • To power the AI matching algorithm (compatibility scoring)
  • To display your profile to potential matches (per your visibility settings)
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fake profiles, and harassment
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To communicate with you about your account and our services
  • To comply with legal obligations

5. Consent

We process your personal data based on your consent, which you provide when creating an account. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us or through your account settings. Withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to provide certain services to you.

6. Data Protection

All messages are end-to-end encrypted. Photos are watermarked and blurred by default. We use industry-standard TLS encryption for data in transit and AES-256 for data at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

7. Photo Privacy

Photos are watermarked with your name and blurred by default. Screenshot functionality is blocked on supported devices. You can control photo visibility through your privacy settings: Public, Verified Only, Sisters-Only, or Private.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties except:

  • With your explicit consent
  • To comply with legal obligations or court orders
  • To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice)

We may share anonymized, aggregated data for research purposes that does not identify individual users.

9. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Deleting your account removes all personal data within 30 days. Anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics. We retain certain data as required by applicable laws.

10. Your Rights as a Data Principal

Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access — Obtain confirmation of whether your personal data is being processed and access to such data
  • Correction — Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data
  • Erasure — Request deletion of your personal data
  • Grievance Redressal — Escalate unresolved complaints to our Grievance Officer
  • Nominate — Nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of your death or incapacity

FindMyNikah is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
